I love the Amazon and rainforests! In 1974 I traveled down the Rio Napo in Ecuador to the Amazon River and onward to Brazil via pangas (hand-carved canoes) and 3-seater military planes. I returned often over the next decade collecting oddities for my import company Dreamweaver Imports. I will never forget the mystery and beauty of this wild, wet place crowded and noisy with jaguar, frogs, monkeys, crocodiles…
This short film by Jules Guerin captures what it feels like to let yourself become fully immersed in a wild space when you’re out there all alone, remembering you are indeed an animal part of this planet too.
To delve deeper into the Amazonian wonderland, read my too-true stories Fish Trader Ray, Amazon Mom, and Dried Fish & Impulsive Love .
Enjoy!
